Honoring Our Heroes: Food Drive in November 2024

During the month of November, students at Harman Elementary School in Oakwood, Ohio, collected food donations for area veterans.  

Anna Newman (OHS '25), the founder of Dayton Hunger Fighters, and Kaitlin Patterson (OHS '27) who will be taking over the reins of this student-led volunteer organization in 2025, delivered the donated food to the VA on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Oakwood students successfully collected over $500 worth of food with both in-kind and online donations during the month of November.

Kaitlin Patterson, a sophomore at Oakwood High School, and Stacie Parsons from Volunteer Services at the Dayton VA unload the food donations at the loading dock. Stacie is a veteran who served in United States Air Force. She was there to accept the donations which will be used to feed veterans who suffer from food insecurity.
